Art Thou Weary?
One of our oldest hymns asks,
“Art thou weary, heavy laden, burdened with a load of care?” Apparently the question is as
relevant today as it was in 1862. We often find ourselves “heavy laden
and burdened.” When, as an adult, I turned my hopes and my life over to
the Lordship of Christ, I was seeking the one thing I knew I no longer
had recourse to within myself...energy. I was drained, worn out, heavy
laden with specific burdens and overloaded with pressures I could not
name. I found God not only to give energy, but that He is energy. I need
to be reminded of that unchanging and still absolute source. Are you weary,
heavy laden, burdened with a load of care? Consider
afresh James 1:17 “every perfect gift is from above, coming down from
the Father of Lights.” Remember in your wearying dilemma that God, the
Creator is all and absolute energy. I John 1:5 “God is light and in Him
there is no darkness at all.” Wow! Light is energy and God is Light!Sometimes
I say, "God, you promised me strength for all your assignments and
here I am weary and heavy laden. What happened to Your Promise?"
And He will say, “I gave you strength for all My
assignments. You picked up a few of your own that are wearing you out!”
If you today are weary and heavy laden, check for Godless clutter in your
life. Turn to the Light. Tap into Him as energy.
