Choose
Your Potter
Isaiah
64:8 offers a meaningful statement for the Believer today. “Now
You, God are our Potter.” We all see the submission of the clay
in that verse, the awareness of the artistic choices of the Supreme Potter
Who is God. Recently I enjoyed a display of crafts and one section of
the gallery was of the work of various potters. The lady in charge of
that section was explaining to a group of us that the signature of the
potter was not only on the piece, but in the style of the work.
I began to see the style of each potter; the choice of colors, a flair
of handiwork, attention to detail. I began to realize for the first time
that the signature of the potter is not only in the name imprinted, but
in the work itself. Referring to the full display, the young lady said
to our group, “You can choose your potter.” Such is the choice
of the clay. We have a voice, we can choose our potter. We are being molded
today by some craftsman. Circumstances, the world’s pressure, people
– many molders affect us. You are going to be shaped by some potter
today. Choose your potter. There is One Who has never failed, Who, knowing
the end from the beginning, has infinite understanding of the clay in
His Hands, its full potential, its unique usefulness, how much pressing
and forming it can stand. Trust Him. Choose your potter today. Say with
the scripture “You, God are my Potter.”
