His
Obedient Representative
A top
business executive sent a young staff member to a share holders meeting.
The young man was ill at ease in the presence of so significant an assembly,
but honored by the opportunity. He held tightly to the signed proxy from
his employer by which he would be accepted at the meeting and allowed
to vote. The meeting's assembly was large, the issues intense and the
novice attender knew little of protocol and precedent. He had much to
learn and knew it, but he was obedient to his assignment. He listened
with eagerness, read carefully the papers handed out as each issue was
presented and when it came time to vote, he reflected on all he knew of
his employer and made his choices in careful consideration. He was only
a beginner, the low man on the totem pole, awkward in the dialogue with
accomplished professionals, but in his hand he held the power of authority.
His vote counted because of the significance of the one he represented
and, in that representation, he deserved the respect of others at the
meeting. Jesus said when you represent Me in obedience to My assignment,
My Name stands behind you, My authority is in your hands! Jesus says to
His designated representatives, He who receives you, receives Me. Know
Me, study Me, obey Me, that you may represent
Me with authority.
