The
One Who Never Fails
There
are several encouraging themes that thread through the tapestry of God's
Word. One of those themes is the assurance that God will prove trustworthy.
Betrayal is a common complaint today; we live in a pattern of human frailty
and collide with disappointment at every turn. People, pledges, promises
and pursuits fail to deliver. Our investments are seldom matched by response
and we can carry an enormous load of pain and anger because we feel betrayed.
Once in a while a dear friend may assure us that such things shouldn't
happen to us, and that helps a little. However, there is One Whom we can
trust implicitly. God will not betray us. Trust in Him is never disappointed.
The American Bible Society puts out new translations of the Bible. In
one I found new views of old truths. Before I sat down to read it carefully,
I thumbed through it to find favorite verses re-phrased. One such verse
is I Thessalonians 5:24. In this new and contemporary version the words
are: "The One Who chose you can be trusted!"
Maybe today you are hurting because someone, some institution, some principle
you trusted turned on you, abandoned you, betrayed you. In that hurt,
which in time will heal, turn afresh to the One Who keeps His promises,
Who will not abandon you, in Whom you will never be ashamed for He can
be trusted. Romans 9:33. “He Who believes in Him, will not be disappointed”.
